Aquaseal X 2281 Aquaseal® X 2281 is a novel high solids barrier coating based on a vinyl alcohol resin in water. Despite its high degree of hydrolysis, it has been possible to achieve a 20% solid content whilst maintaining the viscosity at 500mPas allowing higher coating weights to be achieved with existing equipment. Designed as a product for coatings on paper or film, for example as a printable oxygen barrier. The barrier performance remains humidity sensitive above about 23°C/65% humidity but this can be improved with cross-linking.
