Graphic cardboard is laminated for use as e.g. puzzles and binders. This can be done using either waterbased adhesive or gelatine adhesive.
The laminating of paper to paper is done to obtain a nice appearance on both sides of the paper and to strengthen the paper complex.
Honeycomb laminating means that the honeycomb is glued to both sides, covered with paper (or another substrate) and later cut to the desired length. This cardboard is used e.g. for doors and white boards and has the advantage of being light in weight but strong. Waterbased adhesives are used for this application.
Film laminating is the process whereby a film is glued over printed material e.g. brochures or binders. This is carried out with waterbased adhesives or solvent adhesives.
Aluminium foil is laminated to paper for e.g. cigarette packets or aluminium vapour precipitated paper. Waterbased adhesives or combinations of waterbased adhesives with starch are used for this application.
