Foil can be laminated dry or wet to paper. In case of dry laminating the adhesive must be reactivated by means of pressure and/or heat.
Foil laminating adhesive must fulfill the following general properties:
- ensure good adhesion of foil to paper;
- dry adhesive film must not be visible;
- reactivation of the adhesion must be possible for dry laminating;
- setting speed/open time is dependent on the machine and customer requirements.
Pre-treated foil can decrease in surface tension.
