Graphic cardboard laminating adhesives must fulfill the following general requirements:
- give good bonding of paper to cardboard or synthetic film to cardboard (e.g. PP or PVC). Paper qualities used are often varnished;
- the adhesive must have a high solid content: cardboard is sometimes laminated on a single side, which means that liquid is applied to only one side and the cardboard becomes warped;
- high wet tack: edges are often folded and are under tension;
- setting speed/open time is depending on the machine and customer requirements.
