Paradip Nowax

Paradip Nowax

bio-based and mineral-free cheese coating wax

Bio-based cheese waxes

These bio-based waxes using vegetable oils as feedstock, are classified as food ingredients and both renewable and compostable. In addition, the physical properties of these waxes offer additional possibilities to controlling the permeability of the cheese coating layer - in particular, the breathable nature of these products makes them especially suitable for coating gas-forming cheeses. The Paradip Nowax™ range of cheese waxes are available in a variety of colors, produced in our unique in-house color lab.

125 years of history

Paramelt has been active in the cheese wax industry from the very beginning since the founder of Paramelt Mr. Dirk de Wit developed the concept of cheese wax coatings in the early 1900’s. Traditionally the Dutch cheese industry mainly exported Gouda and Edam cheese in large quantities and became an important user of cheese wax. Paramelt is acknowledged today as the global market leader in both mineral and vegetable wax-based cheese coatings, thanks to this long-term investment and focused approach. This enables Paramelt to meet the full range of market demands from small mini cheese snack portions to fully matured large hard cheese wheels.

A history of looking ahead

With over 100 years of experience with cheese wax, we have always been a precursor within the field. We know what is needed in the industry and are always looking for new possibilities. That's why we introduced our 100% natural cheese wax over 30 years ago, known as Paradip Nowax.

Innovation

The Paradip Nowax products saw the day of life in the early 1990’s, to solve the problem of blister formation on gas forming cheese types. In contrast to mineral-based cheese wax, coatings of Paradip Nowax show a slight gas-permeability whilst still preventing the moisture loss of the cheese.

Our natural waxes are themselves classified as food ingredients and are both renewable and compostable. In addition, the physical properties of these waxes offer additional possibilities to controlling the permeability of the cheese coating layer.

In-house production of colours

Cheese wax can make an important contribution to product image and consumer awareness and therefore an increasing number of producers are choosing to promote their premium products with colored waxes. As market leader our Paradip cheese waxes are known within the industry for their excellent consistency in color reproducibility, color uniformity during coating and stability against sedimentation. With our unique in-house pigment formulation facility, which is specifically dedicated to support the cheese wax range, Paramelt has succeeded in bringing colored vegetable-based cheese waxes to market. We can now also offer yellow, orange and red vegetable waxes.

FSSC 22000 - food safety production

Our range of Paradip cheese waxes requires a controlled manufacturing environment to meet the necessary regulatory & hygiene standards. As a result of these demanding requirements, we have invested heavily in our operating facilities and procedures, using comprehensive standards of HACCP and GMP to achieve FSSC 22000 accreditation for our ISO 9001 certified production operation equivalent to AIB and BRC standards.
